While cruising through the Caribbean with Royal Caribbean she purchased a $16,000 diamond at Diamonds International at one port. Unhappy with that purchase, at the next stop, she exchanged it for a larger, more expensive one. Now that she’ s home she doesn’t want that bigger diamond either.
She says the employees at Diamonds International made her buy this diamond and she just wants to send it back. And she wants a full refund. But is that possible? What if you need special help from your cruise line? What should you do?
That’s the situation posed to the Elliott Advocacy team today. The Benton family expected the Carnival cruise they planned for their family to be wonderful. But something went wrong. Stacy Benton, the designated family trip planner, says her wheelchair-bound mother-in-law had no access to a bathroom during the entire 5-day cruise!

Peggy Wimberly got a big surprise when she showed up in Barcelona for her Mediterranean cruise aboard MSC Cruises’ Meraviglia. Although she had made full payment for the trip to her travel agent, the agent never paid for the cruise. As a result of the nonpayment, MSC canceled Wimberly’s reservation weeks before the sailing. But no one informed her.
And although MSC eventually allowed Wimberly to board the ship, it cost her an unexpected additional $1,633 — and the loss of her preferred cabin.

Norwegian Cruise Line just informed Christie Cook that she has been added to its Do Not Sail list. In other words, she’s banned from cruising with NCL and its affiliated lines — forever.
