Purchased a non-refundable flight on United through Priceline, now unneeded due to a death in the family.

Ah, did not know that. Our poster is a legal adult, and, like the rest of us, must live with the consequences of his decisions and choices — in this case, buying a nonrefundable ticket with no insurance that would cover the circumstances of his planned cancellation.
This is true and in all cases, we are forced to either buy a ticket early and run the risk of something coming up to make our travel impossible, or waiting until the last minute and paying very high prices for airfare.

That is just the way it is, if you are 19 or 65.

I am thinking not too many travel insurance policies would cover this Circumstance.
