I know from reading articles on here that if an airline cancels a flight, you get a refund, but if you cancel or they reschedule without a major change, you'll get a credit. This morning I got an email from American saying my flight to Newport Beach has been cancelled. Was hoping for that so that I could get a refund. I just got another email telling me to pick a rescheduled flight. It's leaving two hours earlier. Wondering how I should proceed. The flight leaves Tuesday, April 7.

I just called and told them that I wasn't accepting the change. (Surprisingly minimal wait time.) The American Airlines rep said that because the schedule change was less than two hours, I could only receive a credit to use within a year. I told her that I read that United and Delta were allowing two years. She said she'd look into it, then came back and said they'd issue a refund! Kudos to American!
Thank you!!!
