Our family found an apartment to rent for a week in 2020 onTrip Advisor. The price listed online for the weekly rental is $2841, but we were unable to make payment on our deposit.

We then contacted the owner who explained that the online price is for 2019. She then quoted us $4100 for 2020 for the same week. We would send our deposit directly to her.

I’m not comfortable with this arrangement. Should we wait until Trip Advisors’ websites reflect the updated 2020 prices or is it okay to proceed dealing directly with the owner?

Thank you!

Do not send money directly!! What online company are you finding this through- where is Tripadvisor sending you?

These are fraught with the possibility of fraud when you send money directly. Please read the posts about the many ripoffs people have had using these services and not paying through HomeAway or Airbnb.

It’s too early for 2020 prices. Wait.
