Ryanair airlines is stating that if you do not want a voucher, they will not process your refund until the "COVID-19 emergency is over". Is this legal to not give a date for a refund? What if I forgo the voucher which is valid for a year, and the "emergency" lasts longer than that. Has anyone received any other information for this airline in regards to refunds?

Ryan Air does not fly from the US, correct? If that is the case, they are not governed by the DOT so you would need to check with the European transportation authority to see how they are dealing with this. But, the airline is a low budget airline that probably has very little operating capital on a good day. This can push them into bankruptcy if they are required to refund everyones' flights.

Ryanair is based in Dublin Ireland and is a budget airline. With the lack of passengers, they have no cash flow. They are going to wait as long as they can to process refunds, and in the end, they may be unable to give anything but a voucher for future use (if they are able to remain in business.). Some airlines have already gone out of business for good, and others will follow.

The US based airlines got multi-billion dollar bailouts from the US government. It is unclear what, if anything, foreign governments will do for their airlines. Virgin Australia went into administration (bankruptcy) 2 days ago when the Australian government refused to bail them out.

And remember, in good times, Ryanair is the airline where the owner thought about charging to use the lavatory.
