We are a family of 4 who purchased RT Icelandair flights from Copenhagen to Reykjavik 7/2/2020 returning 7/11/2020.
We purchased flights from San Francisco to Copenhagen separately through another carrier.
Due to the COVID crisis, our flight to Copenhagen was cancelled by the airline so we have no way of getting to Copenhagen.

Due to the above circumstances, we asked for a refund from Icelandair but were offered only a voucher. We have reached out to Expedia, the Iceland travel board, US DOT to no avail. Expedia states it is up to Icelandair to allow a refund.

It seems the airline policies are not in line with the public health recommendations or government travel restrictions.

Do we have any other options?
Any ideas thoughts would be appreciated.

First- because that flight doesn’t touch US soil, DOT rules regarding refunds don’t apply.

If the flight is still going out, you will have no choice but to cancel and receive a credit. These are the issues that can happen when booking separate tickets vs. a multi city ticket. If it was multi city, usually one canceled segment the rest of the ticket cancels as well.

I’m afraid you might not receive anything other than a credit. We have company contacts for Iceland Air you can try to reach out to and ask for an exception.
