Booked a non refundable hotel for a night on booking.com. Hotel hasn’t answered me even though I offered to take a credit. Should I contact Booking.com directly? My flights to that country were canceled. Thx

Based on the contract you agreed to with booking.com, you are required to go through them, not work directly with the hotel.

Unfortunately, Booking is telling people to contact the property. From their Covid page:

“We understand your travel plans may be affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19). Check travel restrictions before booking and traveling to an accommodation. Travel may only be permitted for certain purposes. For existing bookings, contact the property you booked or visit our Help Center for support in changing your reservation.

Note: It may take us longer than usual to respond. Thanks for your patience.”

Talk about pass the buck! I think this is so far the OTA that has done the very least for consumers.

Travelover, yes, follow their instructions to contact them.

Wow, talk about getting caught in a void....the airlines won't talk to the customer, the OTAs won't talk with the customer.

Did that this afternoon. They say there is a long wait. Thx
Try waiting a bit. Companies I've called recently that include a form of that claim in the outgoing message, have been answering the phone pretty quickly after all the automated messaging. At least in my recent experience.
