This thread is now so convoluted that I have no idea if this is good advice or not: file a claim for your lost items with the insurance on your credit card. That will solve the problem, if I'm understanding what the problem is. In the future, it's important to know that an airline will not pay any kind of baggage claim unless you file at the airport immediately after determining the problem. An airline couldn't hold itself responsible for missing items after you leave the airport, they'd go bankrupt over fraudulent claims. That's why experienced travellers make sure they have proper travel insurance for every trip. Receiving it as a perk with a credit card is a wonderful thing.
