I recently rented a car from a Hertz location in Utah (non-airport) for a 1 way trip to Reno. The rental agreement was done on the agent's cell phone, apparently from an App. As part of the app, he took a series of pictures (I think it was 46 in total) of the car from every angle, inside and out. I signed approval on the phone, and he later emailed me the agreement which included all the pictures. What a great experience! There was some obvious damage to the vehicle and I had been worried about how they were going to notate it especially since I was returning it to a different state. I don't know how universal this is to other Hertz locations or even other companies, but clearly this is major and welcome progress.
