Here’s a brief guide to my stories.

You’re reading my consumer advocacy website, which offers stories and commentary every day. I also write for several media outlets.

Away is Home. I write for my family’s travel blog, Away is Home, regularly.

The Huffington Post. I pen a weekly feature about transportation security. It also appears on the watchdog site TSA News.

Mint.com. I write a weekly column called Consumer IQ for its MintLife blog.

National Geographic. I write the Insider column for National Geographic Traveler and blog about family travel for Nationalgeographic.com.

Newsweek and The Daily Beast. I cover customer service and travel for the sites.

Tribune Media Services. I write a weekly Q&A column that resolves consumer travel problems.

TSA News. I created and co-edit TSA News with fellow journalist Lisa Simeone.

The Washington Post. I pen the Navigator column for Sunday’s Washington Post, a feature focusing on transportation policy.

Here’s a guide to the content you’ll see on this site. There’s some overlap.

Monday – Can This Trip Be Saved? A look at a completely unverified consumer problem, asking readers if I should take it to the next level and mediate it. Note: I don’t always go with the majority vote on the poll, but I promise to listen.

Tuesday – That’s Ridiculous! A consumer case that makes you say, “That’s ridiculous!” Part commentary, part investigative journalism, and 100 percent interesting. Unless it isn’t.

Wednesday – Consumer Q&A. An intractable consumer case that I’ve helped resolve. You should expect this to be more thoroughly researched than Monday’s post, but if you’re looking for a legal dictionary, you’re probably reading the wrong site.

Thursday – Case Dismissed! A case that has been denied or where a consumer received less than he or she wanted. Always fascinating (and often frustrating).

Friday – The Travel Troubleshooter. Like Wednesday’s Q&A, except on travel. This column is nationally syndicated by Tribune Media Services.

Saturday – The Weekender. My Washington Post column, a longer think-piece about transportation policy.

Sunday – Security. Also known as my TSA column. Runs Monday on The Huffington Post. If you want to see a lively discussion, tune in today. I also get political, so if you don’t like politics, please don’t read my site on Sunday.
