Life on the Fantasy and other imponderables

We were lucky to spend a few days this week on the Disney Fantasy preview cruise, and will have a full report soon. Meantime, let’s just say it was another terrific Disney ship. (Better than the NCL’s Epic and its themed Nick cruise? All will be revealed soon.)

By the way, if you’re on Instagram, please follow me — you’ll get all my latest photos immediately. My username is elliottdotorg.

We spent most this week pondering other imponderables. Among them: How do you really know if it’s a scam? (The answer is on Mint.com). Why do we hate the TSA? (I try to answer in the Huffington Post). And there’s more.

But first, let me say “thank you” to our longtime underwriters, AirportParkingReservations.com. They offer more than discounted airport parking and guaranteed parking reservations — they also stand behind that product with excellent service. Why else would they support the leading consumer advocacy site?

Plus:

• This week’s cases are irresistible. Would you accept this offer from a hotel? Also, do you think airlines might be lying about their taxes? And I have a gross-out story about bugs ruining a honeymoon. No, really.

• Oh, and speaking of kids and cruising — do you think this couple deserve a refund after children show up unannounced on their riverboat vacation?

• Finally, I have a report in the Washington Post about the value (or lack thereof) of the TSA’s full body scanners. Is it time to unplug these expensive machines and send them to the scrap heap?

Have a great weekend, everyone!
