TCBY was founded in 1981 in Little Rock, Arkansas and was originally known as This Can’t Be Yogurt. It is the largest seller of soft-serve yogurt with life cultures in the U.S. Created by Frank Hickingbotham, he began franchising the shops in 1982. Due to a lawsuit, the chain was forced to change its name to, The Country’s Best Yogurt. In 2000 the company was acquired by the Mrs. Fields company. The restaurants serve soft serve and hard-scooped yogurt, with a wide variety of optional toppings such as candy sprinkles, nuts, and fruit. They also serve yogurt smoothies and other beverages. TCBY has locations in North and South America, Canada, the Middle East and Eastern Asia.
