L L I O T T' S TRAVEL
NOTES September 19, 2003 Freakin' Fliers Continental and Alaska are revising their frequent flier programs to the detriment of most customers. That's in addition to Delta's controversial changes this past spring (word is that the Atlanta carrier is about to change them yet again). But readers are already up in arms. "This is the biggest development in the frequent flier business since the introduction of free travel in 1981," one traveler told me. Media coverage of the revisions has been so-so ... Brancatelli's rant is probably the most satisfying read, although none of the stories I've seen take into account long-term effects of the policy changes on programs and passengers. September 17, 2003 Virgin Blogging Just back from London this evening, and as I gather my thoughts about my experiences on Virgin Atlantic, I'm compelled to start a blog. Virgin's new Upper Class will be featured in a U.S. News & World Report story I wrote appearing next week (and it's a flattering mention). But it's based on my flight to London. The return trip was nothing to write home about ... certainly not enough to change the entire story, but reason to let off some steam online. Throughout the entire journey, I had the feeling we were being ignored by the crew (hmmm, maybe it was because we were traveling with a rambunctious toddler?). > Story idea: Should babies be allowed to fly? Do they belong in business class? What are your thoughts? Note: This Web log represents my personal views at the time of their writing. My views are subject to change without notice. Further, I can't vouch for the accuracy or integrity of links to source information. |
